“The best things in life are free” and one of the best free health remedies is quality relaxation.
Simple quality rest and relaxation boosts immunity, helps heal injuries, decreases anxiety; helps digestion, weight loss, and memory. And helps us make a commitment to improve our health in other ways too, such as eating better and exercising. Quality rest and relaxation help every aspect of physical and mental health.
You need no special equipment to relax, in fact quite the opposite. For the best relaxation; avoid all stimulation; no TV, PC, no loud music, you must not be eating or drinking, alcohol is definitely out. Just lie down or sit comfortably with your head and neck supported.
Explore what helps you relax; there are different ways, and what works for you may not work for someone else. Classical ways to relax completely include deep breathing, tensing and relaxing your body one part at a time, imagining a warm golden glow moving from your toes to your head, or listening to quiet soothing music.
A creative visualization can help you stay focused on relaxation; this is a lot like daydreaming. Imagine you are in a very special place, it doesn’t have to be at all real and there are no rules. You could imagine ski-ing down to the beach and arriving on a summer’s morning for a swim in the warm sea! Involve all your senses in the details; what you can see, hear, smell, touch, and whether you are alone or with others.
Learning how to really relax takes time and repetition. To start include a whole 10 minutes every single day, this isn’t just a holiday task, however it is a wonderful time of year to start practising quality relaxation, the more you do the easier it gets, so kick back, relax and start to enjoy better health.
