Today is World Mental Health day. Sadly and surprisingly, NZ has one of the highest rates of mental health problems in the world.
To some degree mental health problems can and do happen to any and all of us in much the same way physical problems occur. The mental health problem may be on the same scale as say a common cold or flu, or may be on a more serious level of ill health; just as we need to take care of minor physical complaints so they don’t escalate to serious problems, we need to take care of our minor mental health problems.
From the Naturopathic perspective, mental, physical, emotional, social, environmental and spiritual aspects of health are all important to gaining and maintaining overall health. A problem in one aspect usually affects others; so all aspects are considered.
Naturopaths help in many ways; with nutrition, diet, herbal medicine, homoeopathy, hydrotherapy, and massage. As well as recommending lifestyle changes, relaxation techniques, exercise, and encouraging you to explore your personal spiritual path (naturopaths will not and cannot say what your personal spiritual path is).
As I am also a Registered Mental Health Nurse, I specialise in helping people with a wide range of mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, panic attacks, bipolar disorder and more. Using naturopathic approaches rather than conventional or mainstream approaches, I have helped hundreds of people over the last 20 years to achieve great mental health.
Willingness to make changes is key to recovery. Herbal medicines, homeopathy, and nutritional supplements such as Entire Katoa Food State Magnesium, Vitamin B Complex, Zinc, Vitamin C, Iron, and GTF Chromium are extremely effective. In addition changes in what you do and do not eat and drink, relaxation and exercise are fundamentally important to recovery.
